Cruises Jobs-The things you need to know before applying for an cruise ship job….

Royal Caribbean Cruise Jobs

Check out the video on Royal Caribbean above, enjoy…

Going on a cruise ship  as a passenger is a wonderful experience, loads of fun, excitement. What does it take to make the cruise ship run smoothly so the passenger can have there wonderful dream cruise. A lot of people have strange ideas, that the crew don’t sleep on-board, where they get these ideas from. They are there on board living in crew quarters, obviously not as nice as passenger areas, but the newer ships have some nice facilities. Doing cruises jobs, there are a lot of things going for it, but of course you have the opposite as well, like anything else in life, at the end of the day its what you make of anything in life.

Things going for it, doing Cruises Jobs

The first and foremost thing about the job is the wonderful traveling bit, see the world for free and still get paid, wow. The beauty is that you are in a different place everyday, you wake-up, and there you are in the Caribbean the sun shining. The contracts vary from the officers that get the shorter contracts, to the staff & crew that get anything from 6 to 9 months. The next thing number 2 is that you don’t have rental or electricity bills to be concerned about, accommodation is free plus your food, no worrying about  sitting in peak hour traffic, catching the train, bus. You get to save a lot, if you don’t spend it all ashore in the gorgeous ports of call. The third thing is you get to meet so many people from all over the world, make friends for life, you learn about all these different cultures. Imagine having a cabin mate from Nepal or some equally exotic place in the world, no need to go there you can learn so much from them, if you allow yourself.

The downside of doing Cruises Jobs

There is always a downside to any job unfortunately where ever you are in the world, same as doing cruises jobs. Homesickness, it is natural, especially the first time away from your familiar surroundings, even worse if you got kids and are married. The discipline on-board can be quite hard as well, cabin inspections, mandatory boat-drills,One of Royal Caribbean's Voyager class cruise ships crew boat drills, eating in the specified eating times our tummies don’t always appreciate that. The hours can be quite tiring, standing on your feet, constantly having to have that smile, being happy, it can drain you, but just think of going ashore and seeing these beautiful places. Like I said before, it is what you make out of life in general, if you look on cruises jobs as a wonderful experience, a once in a lifetime opportunity, where you get to travel and see the world make wonderful friends for life. It is all in you mindset, if you worked at home, there are downside things and positive things, but where would you get to wake up in another country or place everyday.

Where can I get a job on a cruise ship? I live near Los Angeles Ca ?

December 3rd, 2009

What company can I work for and where do I apply? For a job on a Cruise Line ?
You need to go to the cruise line web sites. There you will find a link to jobs, employment, human resources or some such link that will give you information about their positions. DO NOT use any other web sites that require you to pay a fee to register or get job information or referrals. Some cruise line sites may have current vacancies they are recruiting for. Several cruise lines have new ships coming out soon so opportunities will be there. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney and some others will have new ships launched in the next couple years. Here are some links: Carnival is the parent company for several cruise lines including Carnival, Cunard, Princess, and Holland America. So contacting Carnival will likely get you leads to the other cruise lines also. PRINCESS: http://www.princess.com/index.html CARNIVAL: http://www.carnivalcruiselines.com/ Then Royal Caribbean cruise line is a partner with Celebrity and Azamara. So contacting RC will likely also get you leads to these others. Royal Caribbean has very good information about its positions. So if you go there first you will know what most ships have. Then if you have further questions you should write a letter to the cruise line and ask them; they will respond. AZAMARA: http://www.azamaracruises.com/07/azama….. CELEBRITY: http://www.celebritycruises.com/home . ROYAL CARIBBEAN: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/gohome.d….. NORWEGIAN: http://www.ncl.com/ DISNEY: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/….. Another thing to do is to contact the concession that run the shops on the ships like the souvenir, gift and clothing shops. These are the companies that hire the beauty shop/spa employees for ships. Below are links for you. http://www.steinerleisure.com/ and http://www.hardingbros.co.uk/

who would i talk to too get a job as a cruise ship designer?

November 30th, 2009

I want to get a job as a cruise ship designer. I dont know who to talk to to get a request for that job. does anyone know who?

First of all are you taking about designing the steel ship itself or the interior of the ship.

If you are talking about the ship itself, then you need to study marine or naval architecture. Next, you should understand that ALL cruise ships built in the last fifty years have been built outside the United States. So there is not much of a job opportunity for cruise ship designers in the USA.

If you want to design the interior of a cruise ship, you would take courses similar to that of a interior hotel designer. That is after all what a cruise ship basically is, a floating hotel.

Probably the best known of the interior designers is Carnival’s Joe Farcus …

How do you get a job on a cruise ship?

November 18th, 2009

I’m a college student, and I recently realized how much I want to travel while still accomplishing something productive. A job on a cruise ship would be awesome! But on all the sites for the ships, it’s a long process and a lot of paperwork. Is there any other way to obtain one of these amazing careers?!

Apply directly with the cruise ships for most jobs. You will find links for employment on most cruise company web sites. There is no way to get around the paperwork.

Gettting a job on a cruise ship for the summer?

November 18th, 2009

I think it would be a great experience for me to get a job on a cruise ship (like princess cruises) but i was wondering if i wanted to get a possition as a dishwasher or a maid/ laundry folder could i work on a two week cruise and be done? I have to back at school in the fall. also how young would they hire?

Like sds said, this is the best approach.

Contract normally run for 6 to 10 months, so I doubt you would get a 2 week job. Also because you need to learn all the safety requirements for being on a ship and that would not be done in 2 weeks.
