Your Talents For a Free Cruise

It’s true! You can trade your talents for free
(or substantially discounted) luxury cruises.
Cruise line management is very interested in
keeping their passengers happy at all times. This
goal is a bit more challenging on days when the
ship’s at sea. To address this issue the cruise
lines offer all manner of onboard activity. Many
of these activities are staffed by outside people
who typically cruise free or at discounted fees
paid to booking agencies. One key advantage is
the time commitment, which is generally minimal
for those who are contracted (usually an hour per
day on days when the ship’s at sea). Also, most
outside contractors get to bring along a traveling
companion who also cruises free.
You may consider whether you could trade your
talents for free cruises. To assist in your self-
assessment here is a list of positions typically
staffed by outside people:
Enrichment Lecturer: Many cruise lines have
formal enrichment programs that offer edutainment
type programs in a variety of topics. A majority
of these programs use destination-driven lectures
although many lines will also consider general
interest topics.
Arts and Crafts Instructors: Craft classes are an
onboard staple at sea. Projects range from so
called “high art” like watercolor classes to
simple macramé projects. Typically, the more
popular classes are those that are also
destination related, i.e. handicraft or folk art
of one of the countries on the itinerary.
Dance Instructors: These classes too are often

Cruises Jobs-The things you need to know before applying for an cruise ship job….

<meta name="google-site-verification" content="3WgcYu8fNP0KubsMPTK5vF1cBxmKUWcGp0NTUzHhnY8" />
Going on a cruise ship as a passenger is a wonderful experience, loads of fun, excitement. What does it take to make the cruise ship run smoothly so the passenger can have there wonderful dream cruise. A lot of people have strange ideas, that the crew don’t sleep on-board, where they get these ideas from. They are there on board living in crew quarters, obviously not as nice as passenger areas, but the newer ships have some nice facilities. Doing cruises jobs, there are a lot of things going for it, but of course you have the opposite as well, like anything else in life, at the end of the day its what you make of anything in life.
Things going for it, doing Cruises Jobs The first and foremost thing about the job is the wonderful traveling bit, see the world for free and still get paid, wow. The beauty is that you are in a different place everyday, you wake-up, and there you are in the Caribbean the sun shining. The contracts vary from the officers that get the shorter contracts, to the staff & crew that get anything from 6 to 9 months. The next thing number 2 is that you don’t have rental or electricity bills to be concerned about, accommodation is free plus your food, no worrying about sitting in peak hour traffic, catching the train, bus. You get to save a lot, if you don’t spend it all ashore in the gorgeous ports of call. The third thing is you get to meet so many people from all over the world, make friends for life, you learn about all these different cultures. Imagine having a cabin mate from Nepal or some equally exotic place in the world, no need to go there you can learn so much from them, if you allow yourself.
The downside of doing Cruises Jobs There is always a downside to any job unfortunately where ever you are in the world, same as doing cruises jobs. Homesickness, it is natural, especially the first time away from your familiar surroundings, even worse if you got kids and are married. The discipline on-board can be quite hard as well, cabin inspections, mandatory boat-drills,
crew boat drills, eating in the specified eating times our tummies don’t always appreciate that. The hours can be quite tiring, standing on your feet, constantly having to have that smile, being happy, it can drain you, but just think of going ashore and seeing these beautiful places. Like I said before, it is what you make out of life in general, if you look on cruises jobs as a wonderful experience, a once in a lifetime opportunity, where you get to travel and see the world make wonderful friends for life. It is all in you mindset, if you worked at home, there are downside things and positive things, but where would you get to wake up in another country or place everyday. how can I get cruise jobs as cruise staff of a social host on a cruise ship?
I have worked for NCL before (as a waiter), I have worked in land-based restaurants before, and I am currently living in Germany working as a guest relations officer at 330 room resort… and I am having no luck at all trying to get back to the ship business! I have e-mailed resumes to all the major companies… and nothing! if anyone knows how to get a cruise staff job, I would greatly appreciate it.
All cruise lines have social hosts, no matter how cheap, even Island Cruises have them. Gotta tell you, it´s no easy work though. Be careful with sites and online agencies. I think you have a better chance if you snail mail the CVs. That´s what I did when I joined Carnival, long ago, in 2000. Hardings is easy to get in (Hardings is a concession that has shops on some 50 ships) but you would as a sales rep at first. You onboard amenities would be the same as cruise staff. The sales reps are staff members rather than crew. Well, you´ve worked onboard, you know. Anyway, hardings is at www.hardingbros.co.uk and the interviews are over the phone, the money is good and you dont work such long hours. For Cruise Staff it has to be thru the cruise line but I remember when I joined Carnival I emailed all cruise lines, but only got a decent interview when i sent my CV package by normail mail. Ive got some addresses for the cruise lines, email me if you want any. good luck

How do I find cruise jobs and contracts with multiple cruise lines?
Point me in the direction of a employment agency not just the individual cruise lines themselves. Please leave your feedback of how it is to work for the cruise industry.

JOB ON A CRUISE SHIP
The Pluses and Minuses of Doing Cruise Jobs
Cruise jobs can be fun in many ways, you can make money, but it is also not every one’s cup of tea.So many have a great desire to work on cruise ships, so many more have already done it over the years, with great success, seeing the world meeting people and having great adventures.
Cruise ships jobs can be very rewarding especially if you like being around people and enjoy the interaction. People (the passengers) come on cruise ships to have fun, get away and enjoy themselves. The hours can be very long and tough on you, depending on the cruise job you are doing. Its like pretty much anything in life it is what you put into it, what you get out. Homesickness can be a problem, but you get over it pretty quickly, you are too busy working, having fun and adventures. You find the days can fly you don’t even know what day of the week it is, just when the home port is coming up.
Depending on your cruise ships jobs, most of the jobs are tips/gratuities based, unless you are in an admin job or on a set salary. Tips can be pretty good, especially as the passengers are on the cruise ship to have fun and are relaxed and generally feeling generous. So there is a great opportunity for earning good money, no rent to pay, or food to pay on board. It can set you up, for if you wanted to open your own business one day, but you do need to save, some people tend to go crazy and spend in all the wonderful ports.
Yes cruise employment is not always every one’s cup of tea.
1. If you are constantly seasick and feel like crap.
2. You are not a peoples person and have to constantly deal with people.
3. You do not like confined spaces, small cabins.
4. The discipline that goes with working on cruise ships, the boat drills, cabin inspection and regulations.
If you have always desired to work on cruise ships, imagine one day you look back and think I regret not having tried it. You can even make a career out of cruise jobs, there are loads of opportunities on board for promotion, even changing departments once you are on board.
It can be a wonderful life opportunity, the travel and meeting different people from all nationalities (the crew), it is like a huge life lesson in many ways. The seasickness is not such a problem nowadays with the huge cruise ships out there, they all have stabilisers, but some people still do suffer from that (you get those arm bands etc). At the end of the day it is a huge adventure in more ways than one, think of all those great people you will meet and the wonderful memories you will have.
Hi, I worked on cruise ships for 18 years, enjoyed it thoroughly, seen the world, I can recommend it to anyone that wishes to try it. I now live at home in Cape Town with my Senegal Parrot Syd, doing online work.

Cruise jobs for Americans?
Hi. I have a bachelor’s degree in 2 foreign languages and love travelling, but my current job keep me inside a cubicle all day. I am doing some research on careers where I can travel and use my language skills. I know of a couple of people who work on a cruise ship (not American citizens though) and they love their jobs and have seen the world. I’d love to do something like that, but I’m not sure what type of position they offer for US citizens and how much the pay would be. Does anyone have any insight about this? Thank you so much!
It sounds like you would be a great candidate to work on a cruise ship! I have heard that the Norwegian Cruise line is currently the only one that has cruises beginning and ending in the US without a stop in a foreign country. This is on their cruise ship that travels through the Hawaiian Islands. Because of this, I think there is a law that requires that they use only people who are either US citizens or are those with legal resident status (green card) to work in the US. Because of this more limited pool of potential employees, this might give you your best chance of getting hired. After getting that initial hire and gaining some experience you could probably apply for positions on other ships or even other cruise lines with destinations around the world
