What you need to know about Cruise Employment
You might thing working on a cruise ship is all fun and games, but it is definitely not for the fainthearted. You got to love being around people to take up cruise employment.
Yes, you can have all the fun you want but it is still a job like any other, where if you have been out partying until 5am you still need to go to work in the morning. Never mind that you feel like crap and need to sleep, it is all about discipline, having your cake and eating it as well.
Most important things about Cruise Employment
1. Disciplined-Waking up on time, getting your sleep in, eating properly and getting exercise in.
2. Cleanliness-Showering, brushing teeth, deodorant (so you smell nice)
3. Tidiness-Hair nice and neatly cut, clothes and appearance.
4. Ethics-work and when you have to share a cabin, fellow crew members.
Hours off to go ashore with Cruise Employment
Okay lets be realistic if you think you are going to be able to go ashore at all the ports of call, you will generally be wrong. It depends what department you are working in, the casino has lots of off time as the casino is generally closed in ports (unless you have training of some kind) The restaurant, you will get time ashore but depends on whether you have to get your tables ready. If you work in the stores, there is normally stores coming on board that you will have to load and bring on board or take to the shop. So my advice pick your job, if you are interested in the ports find out which job gives you lots of free time, like an art auctioneer or something similar.
So take your time and think about what position in cruise employment you would like, if is for the money or the port time to see places, then go an enjoy yourself-have fun. For all those cruise employment links, click the highlight to the left.
