Do you need a lot of experience to work on a cruise line?

So the question is for a job on a cruise ship, or cruise line, do you need a lot of experience ? And if you have a ton of experience and then several years of unemployment due to injury?
Generally yes, you will need experience in any position you are applying for. The experience does not necessarily have to be current. It just depends on the position. I worked a lot in theater in high school and college and stopped doing that in 2002. And I got hired in 2007 on a cruise ship working in the theater aboard ship.

  1. Depending on the job you are going to have, you may need a certain college degree. You do need some type of degree to be one of the captains, and probably some experience in some kind of boat. For entertainers and maids and stuff, they "train" you but it is always better to have backup experience to support the job. You can work as the cashier in stores and you don’t need experience for that. I’m not sure but I don’t think an injury or several years of unemployment will affect your career if you have experience. Depending on the cruise line, you might need some sort of nationality…..For example, most of Holland America’s officers and sailors are Dutch and most of Princess has English officers and Italian sailors.

Well, I hope I could help you!
