A little bit of useful information for considering doing cruise ships jobs.
So is it a great experience to work on big Cruise Ships or not?
I always vowed I was not interested in working on big cruise ships, that they were so impersonal, so many people. I was pleasantly surprised when I worked onboard the Adventure, the Navigator of the Seas and the Voyager of the Seas. It was quite a pleasant experience doing cruise jobs on the big cruise ships, lots to do and see facilities for the crew just seemed to be a touch better. I also worked on the Millenium, the Infinity from Celebrity, which are a little more upscale than the Royal ones’ but also a pleasant experience, just a touch more classy.
So I would say yes there are lots more people about but there is so much more interactive things like the cabin facility things like the Internet in the cabin, Ipads now.

So many Cruise Line Companies
Whether you are a prospective cruise line employee and trying to figure out which cruise line companies to apply to for that cruise ship jobs. The main thing with all the cruise lines is that they want people that are willing to please, to keep there passengers happy.
Try one of the Cruise Line Companies
Trying to find one of those particular Cruise Line Companies around, which cruise line brand to choose. Though at the end of the day Carnival owns a lot of them under one umbrella. Royal Caribbean has also got a few under there one.
One thing is for certain all the cruise lines have one thing in common they all want to keep there paying passengers happy, so they can keep coming back repeatedly. The happy passenger will tell all his friends and family what a wonderful cruise they had, which in turn encourages other people to cruise with that line and voila you got some bodies to fill your ships with. Which in turn keeps the cruise economy ticking over happily.
If you are looking for that cruise line jobs, you need to have that willing to please and happy disposition.
So how do the Cruise Line Companies keep passengers happy
Well it all starts with the employees, from shore based, who the passengers sees first at the embarkation point at the port. The next employees are the crewmember welcoming them on board the cruise ship. The Welcoming Cruise Line staff need to be jolly, happy, smiling and helpful, first impressions do count; we all judge a book by its cover. Especially a person new to cruising is quite intimidated with the huge cruise ships of today, finding their way around. A friendly helpful crewmember can just make them feel so much more comfortable.
The next thing is the food, when your tummy is full all is good, people on cruises love to stuff there selves they are on vacation. Of course the entertainment and the cruise staff for all the activities in the day by the pool, or all the game shows, all great fun, just makes the cruise. Most people will go to the casino as well, the average person has gambled, but for the newbie’s it is good if the dealer made them feel comfortable, chatting and smiling at them, or helped them if they are not familiar with certain games.
Shore excursions, especially in Europe, there is so much to see that people like to do the tours.

My one main goal in life was doing Cruise Jobs
We all start off with our main goals in life, mine of course was cruise jobs on ships, mainly to see all the places in the world, my dad was in the navy. I grew up in Cape Town which is still after all my travels still one of the most picturesque places in the world. I got to see almost all the places I dreamt of as a child, except Mcchu Picchu in Peru
1st Break to get Cruise Jobs on ships
My life on cruise ships started through a friend who was working on a ship out of Cyprus, there were 3 of us, we started working on a Louis Cruise Line ship doing cruises to Israel, Egypt and the Greek Islands. I worked on 2 ships with them, 2 stints on both. It was to be the start of a long life on cruise ships, eighteen years in total….yes some people do it for a few years and quit, I kept going. I loved seeing all the new places, well eventually they were not new, got to do India twice, Norway until I dreamt of the place.
Cruise jobs on a ferry boat
I even did a short stint on a ferry boat between Greece and Northern Italy, Anek Lines during the winter, lovely choppy seas of course. The money was good on there I worked for an American man who had the concessionaire on there. My life changed, I then went to work out of New Orleans doing the Caribbean for Commodore Cruise Line, no longer exists. It was fun doing the Caribbean, going to the beach, wonderful experiences.
I returned to Europe and got a job with an English Casino Concessionaire, Southern Games based in Fulham, London. I did quite a lot of different ships with them, the Portuguese ship the Funchal, which I did Brazil for the summer season three times, one of my favourite places is Brazil, the people just have so much energy, the place has a real buzz about it, the music. The Funchal would do seasons out of Sweden, the Norwegian fjords, beautiful, then Mediterranean, she kept moving, was in all different languages as well. I did some ships out of Palma de Majorca, one strangely enough yet again a Louis Cruise Line ship (haunting me) that was owned previously by Croisieres Paquet the owners of the Mermoz. It seem strangely intertwined, I never did figure that out. I also did the wonderful cruise ship Marco Polo joining her in Singapore coming back to the Mediterranean.

work on cruise ships
Where can I get a job on a cruise ship? I live near Los Angeles Ca ?
What company can I work for and where do I apply? For a job on a Cruise Line ?
You need to go to the cruise line web sites. There you will find a link to jobs, employment, human resources or some such link that will give you information about their positions. DO NOT use any other web sites that require you to pay a fee to register or get job information or referrals. Some cruise line sites may have current vacancies they are recruiting for. Several cruise lines have new ships coming out soon so opportunities will be there. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney and some others will have new ships launched in the next couple years. Here are some links: Carnival is the parent company for several cruise lines including Carnival, Cunard, Princess, and Holland America. So contacting Carnival will likely get you leads to the other cruise lines also. PRINCESS: http://www.princess.com/index.html CARNIVAL: http://www.carnivalcruiselines.com/ Then Royal Caribbean cruise line is a partner with Celebrity and Azamara. So contacting RC will likely also get you leads to these others. Royal Caribbean has very good information about its positions. So if you go there first you will know what most ships have. Then if you have further questions you should write a letter to the cruise line and ask them; they will respond. AZAMARA: http://www.azamaracruises.com/07/azama..... CELEBRITY: http://www.celebritycruises.com/home . ROYAL CARIBBEAN: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/gohome.d..... NORWEGIAN: http://www.ncl.com/ DISNEY: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/..... Another thing to do is to contact the concession that run the shops on the ships like the souvenir, gift and clothing shops. These are the companies that hire the beauty shop/spa employees for ships. how would i know if an employment agency is legal?
I submitted my resume at Cruise Internation:Cruise International" <consumerdir@cruiseshipjob.net>, I think they are an employment agency for jobs on cruise. But before they can process my application, I need to pay a processing fee. Before i make any payment i want to make sure that I am dealing with the real people processing such employment.
Check on-line with Companies House they should be able to help you. Normally when people request money I feel they are a bit dubious. Good Luck
Rather look at Royal Caribbean International, rccl, or one of the cruise lines, Celebrity Cruises, they have a link for hiring agents in your countries, then you don't pay them a fee, only for your C1D1 visa, physical and air ticket, which they should help arrange.
