Hurry up get a Cruise Industry Job
Cruise Industry Job and you
You find that most people consider getting a cruise industry job at one time or another. You tend to see that exotic world of cruising and seeing the world, which some of these TV series has made look so glamorous. Yes there is a huge choice of jobs on cruise ships nowadays with the huge Oasis style cruise ships out there from scuba diving instructors and the more adventurous jobs. Think of these cruise ships as floating hotels so they have the same kind of jobs that you would find in these resorts, with all the relevant experience needed. Yes you do get to travel to these exotic ports of call and of course you meet all these different nationalities as these ships have a mini United Nations on board from afar as Nepal, with lots of different cultures as well.

The main negative factors of a Cruise Industry Job
1.You will be on the sea, so do you experience seasickness?
The sea is pretty unpredictable from one moment to the next on a cruise ship whether in the Caribbean or sailing the eastern Mediterranean, from hurricanes to stormy weather. So please think carefully if you do suffer from that motion sickness, or come prepared with the magic bracelet to start off with doing a cruise industry job.
2.You will need to sleep and live in a small cabin, pretty confining, so beware if you suffer from claustrophobia.
Working on a cruise ship, your small cabin will be on the lower decks and there most certainly won’t be a porthole (window) unless you are extremely lucky and on one of the older ships. You will share a cabin with someone in a cruise ship job who is called your cabin mate; you will share the toilet and shower, quite a thing in a confined space and confined time. Of course if you are employed as an officer yes your conditions are entirely different.
Yes you will have guessed if you have answered affirmative to the above, then you are not going to be a suitable candidate for this cruise ship jobs life.
Duration of your contract in cruise jobs – it can vary from four to six months sometimes longer or shorter, you will also work a seven day week. Days off are when you are on vacation at the end of your contract. You generally pay your own way to join the cruise ship for your cruise industry job, the cruise line pays your way back, and cruise lines are constantly changing their policies so always check. Obviously if you do not finish your contract you will be paying your own way home. You generally get 6 to 8 weeks vacation and then return to your cruise employment on a ship, the one you were on or a new one.
A Cruise Industry Job is normally paid in US Dollars while on board the ship, no pay while on vacation. You will have a flexible schedule but pretty demanding. You will need to be in good health, you will have to pass a medical examination prior to joining the ship and on a regular basis.
The Positive Factors of a Cruise Industry Job
Yes if you have got past all the negative aspects, then possibly you will think the positives outweigh all the negatives. Cruise Ship Jobs do give you that wonderful opportunity to travel the world and to meet all those exciting interesting people along the way. You will join a team onboard a cruise ship that is always willing to help you to learn the ropes and settle in and you will make lifetime friends with people. You will have lots of opportunities to go ashore in the ports of calls and visit all those exciting places. Or simply just go to the beach and swim in places in the Caribbean and just chill out and be in the moment, sun beating down on your head, body, and bliss….
The wages on board differs from cruise lines; you will think it’s not worth it for the long hours of work. You will get free board and food, no utility bills to pay. You don’t have as much opportunities to spend your wages, so just think of the money you can save.
All the cruise lines today are very aware of keeping cruise employees comfortable, happy. You will find a crew bar, crew shop for basic items on board and lots of activities and parties arranged on a regular basis, to even playing bingo. Cruise lines are very much aware that a happy crewmember will then keep the passengers happy. There keeps the circle going around for all satisfied people.

Well it all starts with the employees, from shore based, who the passengers sees first at the embarkation point at the port. The Welcoming Cruise Line staff need to be jolly, happy, smiling and helpful, first impressions do count; we all judge a book by its cover. Especially a person new to cruising is quite intimidated with the huge cruise ships of today, finding their way around. A friendly helpful crewmember can just make them feel so much more comfortable.
The next thing is the food, when your tummy is full all is good, people on cruises love to stuff there selves they are on vacation. Of course the entertainment and the cruise staff for all the activities in the day by the pool, or all the game shows, all great fun, just makes the cruise. Most people will go to the casino as well, the average person has gambled, but for the newbie’s it is good if the dealer made them feel comfortable, chatting and smiling at them, or helped them if they are not familiar with certain games.

Summer Seasonal Alaska Cruise Ship Jobs
Cruise Ship Jobs
Working on a cruise ship is an excellent way to make money out of Alaskan tourism. Alaskan cruises are some of the most popular vacations to take and cruise lines sail the waters of Alaska in both the summer months as well as in the winter. Therefore, while seasonal employment does exist in the summer for cruise ship jobs (when cruising is most popular) it is also available in the winter. Those willing to work longer than just one season are in incredibly high demand because the cruise lines aren’t required to re-train dedicated employees. Those who stick with it for longer than one season often move up to higher earning positions.
Cruise ships, because of their sheer size have a variety of positions available. Thus, at any given time there are almost always open jobs. The cruise ship industry makes millions of dollars in revenue each year and the field is certainly growing. Therefore, working for a cruise ship represents an excellent way to earn money and see the world. If seasonal employment is your only concern and you are simply looking for a good way to earn money, there is no need for you to apply to cruise lines that run specifically out of Alaska. You can apply at any time and be on your way to seeing the world in no time! Some potential employees however, are eager to see specific parts of the world (like Alaska for example) and thus, apply for cruise lines that sail in one specific area. This is equally as common and while limiting yourself to a cruise line that sails only one area of the world might in turn limit your job opportunities, procuring a job on a cruise line is infamous in terms of good seasonal work and high earning potentials.
Cruise ship jobs are like fishing jobs in many ways. The hours can be long and sleeping conditions tight and isolated. One of the largest complaints from cruise ship employees is the hours in which you are working. Because most jobs require employees to stay on the ship it can begin to feel as if you are working 24-hours a day. However, the long hours always translate into high paychecks and like fishing jobs, the potential to earn is incredibly high because your employer often pays for most of the living expenses. Therefore room and board, food costs and medical expenses are either all paid, or represent very low costs for employees.
Also like fishing jobs, some of the best cruise ship jobs are unadvertised, so finding the right one can be tricky. Sending out applications and researching the industry are the best ways to procure a cruise ship job. Knowing the positions you are qualified for, and applying well in advance will increase your chances of finding the seasonal employment as well as the paycheck of your dreams.

Best sites to find cruise ship jobs, genuine employment!?
Cruise Ship Jobs
I am looking for genuine, web sites that offer cruise ship/hotel employment. I have come across a lot that ask for a 'fee' upfront!
Many thanks
The best and most genuine websites for cruise ship employment are the cruise lines themselves, or the sites of their concessionaires (for the shops, Spa, Casino)
You should stay away from those which ask for a fee upfront. There are legit agencies - which will charge once they have found a job for you.
Everything else - just forget it.
You need to apply to the cruise lines for a specific job, which requires a certain amount of previous experience - depending on what you want to apply for.
It also depends sometimes on your nationality, if it is better to go through an agency or direct to the cruise lines.
If you let us know what you want to apply for, what your past work experience is, I am sure we can point you in the right direction.
If you like to get in touch with me, feel free to do so via Yahoo Answers e-mail
