Sticky: a LEGIT way to look for cruise ship employment ?

Cruise Ship Employment

I've been on multiple websites & every single one seems to be phony, or a dead end. Any ideas??
I have not worked on a cruise ship but I have been on about 20 cruises and I usually talk to the staff, and usually about how work is going.

A few things I have learned are that if you are hired you have to sign a contract to work for 8 or 9 months straight. And that means 7 days a week and usually 10 to 12 hours a day and sometimes with a split shift that starts early in the morning and does not end until 10 or 11 PM. There are no Saturdays and Sundays off and you may get to go ashore in port stops on on occasions but not at every stop. After you complete your initial tour then you get 2 or 3 months off before you are to report back to the ship.

All of the cruise lines operating out of the US have jobs information and a link on their web home page. So for a starting point you need to read what they present on their web sites and then contact the cruise lines directly.

On the cruise lines' web sites you will find a link to jobs, employment, human resources or some such link that will give you information about their positions. And there are no fees or charges for information. Some sites even have current vacancies they are recruiting for. Several cruise lines have new ships coming out soon so opportunities will be there. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney and some others will have new ships launched in the next couple years. Here are some links:

Carnival Cruise line is the parent company for several cruise lines including Princess, Carnival, Holland America, Cunard, Seabourn Cruise, and Costa Cruises. Carnival's Corporate offices are located in Miami, Florida.

So if you contact carnival you can also ask about the others.

PRINCESS: CUNARD: HOLLAND AMERICA COSTA:

Royal Caribbean is the parent cruise line for its partner cruise lines, Celebrity, Azamara, and some others. Their corporate offices are located in Miami, Florida. So in contacting RC you can ask about the others ROYAL CARIBBEAN:

DISNEY: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/.....

BEWARE OF WEB SITES ADVERTISING CRUISE SHIP EMPLOYMENT /JOBS THAT CHARGE A FEE !!!

They will take your money and you will not necessarily get a job. Another thing to do is to contact the concession that run the shops on the ships like the spa, photos, souvenir, gift and clothing shops.

Where can I get a job on a cruise ship? I live near Los Angeles Ca ?

What company can I work for and where do I apply? For a job on a Cruise Line ?
You need to go to the cruise line web sites. There you will find a link to jobs, employment, human resources or some such link that will give you information about their positions. DO NOT use any other web sites that require you to pay a fee to register or get job information or referrals. Some cruise line sites may have current vacancies they are recruiting for. Several cruise lines have new ships coming out soon so opportunities will be there. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney and some others will have new ships launched in the next couple years. Here are some links: Carnival is the parent company for several cruise lines including Carnival, Cunard, Princess, and Holland America. So contacting Carnival will likely get you leads to the other cruise lines also. PRINCESS: http://www.princess.com/index.html CARNIVAL: http://www.carnivalcruiselines.com/ Then Royal Caribbean cruise line is a partner with Celebrity and Azamara. So contacting RC will likely also get you leads to these others. Royal Caribbean has very good information about its positions. So if you go there first you will know what most ships have. Then if you have further questions you should write a letter to the cruise line and ask them; they will respond. AZAMARA: http://www.azamaracruises.com/07/azama..... CELEBRITY: http://www.celebritycruises.com/home . ROYAL CARIBBEAN: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/gohome.d..... NORWEGIAN: http://www.ncl.com/ DISNEY: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/..... Another thing to do is to contact the concession that run the shops on the ships like the souvenir, gift and clothing shops. These are the companies that hire the beauty shop/spa employees for ships.
