So many Cruise Line Companies

Whether you are a prospective cruise line employee and trying to figure out which cruise line companies to apply to for that cruise ship jobs. The main thing with all the cruise lines is that they want people that are willing to please, to keep there passengers happy.

Try one of the Cruise Line Companies

Trying to find one of those particular Cruise Line Companies around, which cruise line brand to choose. Though at the end of the day Carnival owns a lot of them under one umbrella. Royal Caribbean has also got a few under there one.

One thing is for certain all the cruise lines have one thing in common they all want to keep there paying passengers happy, so they can keep coming back repeatedly. The happy passenger will tell all his friends and family what a wonderful cruise they had, which in turn encourages other people to cruise with that line and voila you got some bodies to fill your ships with. Which in turn keeps the cruise economy ticking over happily.

If you are looking for that cruise line jobs, you need to have that willing to please and happy disposition.

So how do the Cruise Line Companies keep passengers happy

Well it all starts with the employees, from shore based, who the passengers sees first at the embarkation point at the port. The next employees are the crewmember welcoming them on board the cruise ship. The Welcoming Cruise Line staff need to be jolly, happy, smiling and helpful, first impressions do count; we all judge a book by its cover. Especially a person new to cruising is quite intimidated with the huge cruise ships of today, finding their way around. A friendly helpful crewmember can just make them feel so much more comfortable.

The next thing is the food, when your tummy is full all is good, people on cruises love to stuff there selves they are on vacation. Of course the entertainment and the cruise staff for all the activities in the day by the pool, or all the game shows, all great fun, just makes the cruise. Most people will go to the casino as well, the average person has gambled, but for the newbie’s it is good if the dealer made them feel comfortable, chatting and smiling at them, or helped them if they are not familiar with certain games.

Shore excursions, especially in Europe, there is so much to see that people like to do the tours.

Carnival Corporation: The biggest cruise company.

Carnival Cruise Line – the fun ships
Aida Cruises – German speaking would be an advantage.
Princess Cruises
Cunard
Holland America – Dutch speaking
Seabourn Cruise Line
Costa Cruises – Italian speaking, preferably a foreign language. Costa motto “Dedication with a smile at your service”
Ibero Cruises – Spanish (Castilian) Brazilian, run by Costa
P & O Cruise Line

Royal Caribbean International: The second biggest cruise company.
Royal Caribbean
Celebrity Cruises – also quite a smart line, need PR.
Azmara Club Cruises – top line need to have good PR.
Pullmantar – largest cruise line in Spain, Spanish & Portuguese speaking crew
CDF Croisieres de France – (all French speaking crew)

Norwegian Cruise Line: Is owned by Genting which also has Star Cruises which is popular in Asia, They have Orient Lines as well.

Disney Cruise Line

There are several others cruise lines in the Mediterranean
Fred Olhson – Norwegian owned English company.
Louis Cruises – Cypriot company owned by the Louis hotels group.

Classic International Cruises – Portuguese based company.

MSC Cruises – Italian company, does cruises out of South Africa in the summer as well.

There are a lot out of Greece as well, as well as ferry lines.

What to do now with Cruise Line Companies

Once you have decided on which cruise line you wish to work for. Firstly, if in the states you apply directly to the cruise line. If you are outside the US you general go through a hiring agent in your country, or a recruitment agent, yet again depending on your country.

Cruise jobs for Americans?

Hi. I have a bachelor's degree in 2 foreign languages and love travelling, but my current job keep me inside a cubicle all day. I am doing some research on careers where I can travel and use my language skills. I know of a couple of people who work on a cruise ship (not American citizens though) and they love their jobs and have seen the world. I'd love to do something like that, but I'm not sure what type of position they offer for US citizens and how much the pay would be. Does anyone have any insight about this? Thank you so much!
It sounds like you would be a great candidate to work on a cruise ship! I have heard that the Norwegian Cruise line is currently the only one that has cruises beginning and ending in the US without a stop in a foreign country. This is on their cruise ship that travels through the Hawaiian Islands. Because of this, I think there is a law that requires that they use only people who are either US citizens or are those with legal resident status (green card) to work in the US. Because of this more limited pool of potential employees, this might give you your best chance of getting hired. After getting that initial hire and gaining some experience you could probably apply for positions on other ships or even other cruise lines with destinations around the world

Disney Cruise Line

Costa Cruise Line

P&O Cruises

P&O Cruises is the best-known brand of a global company leader in the cruise industry called Carnival UK. Please note that like with most of the cruise lines operating in the industry, to work for any of the five brands of the Carnival UK (Princess Cruises, Cunard Line, P&O Cruises, Ocean Village, and P&O Cruises Australia), you are expected to have no legal restrictions on employment in the UK.

The five-ship fleet of the P&O Cruises consists of Aurora, Oriana, Arcadia, Artemis and Oceana. Each of the cruise ships run by the Carnival UK is staffed by around 15 000 men and women. Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line watches over operations onboard of the fleet of more than fourteen cruise ships within its brands NCL, NCL America and Orient Lines. There are some limitations and requirements to be granted a Freestyle Cruise job onboard a NCL America cruise liner (see How To Get A Job section). There are also differences between those three brands in terms of employment policy, which the cruise line authorities will explain to you at the time of hire. The company applies a customer service concept called STYLE - Service Teamwork and Yes Lead to Excellence. Like with all the major cruise lines, if your job performance is viewed as satisfactory, you will be leaving one season headed home with an employment contract for another one safe in your pocket. One of the better Cruise Line Jobs is to work for is Royal Caribbean International, they have 21 cruise ships, out of different ports in the world (280 destinations). They are also environmentally friendly, with there Save the Waves program. If you like new experiences, challenges, Royal Caribbean has openings on there cruise ships, they are well recognized the whole world over, with lots of positions available for crew/staff on board. Royal Caribbean has kept growing there fleet of cruise ships, the company started out in 1968 with the owners,three Norwegian shipping companies, providing that extra bit of service, going the extra mile. They have the most innovative ships, starting with the Voyager class of cruise ships, the then ice skating rinks to the latest due to start sailing out of Fort Lauderdale this month, the Oasis of the Seas. The Oasis of the Seas has more innovative features, the bar that elevates, ziplining just to name a few, probably some more surprises.They require people applying to have people skills, as it is all in the customer service business, you are rewarded by being able to travel and see the places just like the passengers except your are working really.

There are lots of cruise lines, they are all distinct from each other, they are all traveling the seas, providing services to there passengers. In the bygone days, only the rich and famous had the money to cruise.
