Hurry up get a Cruise Industry Job

Cruise Industry Job and you

You find that most people consider getting a cruise industry job at one time or another. You tend to see that exotic world of cruising and seeing the world, which some of these TV series has made look so glamorous. Yes there is a huge choice of jobs on cruise ships nowadays with the huge Oasis style cruise ships out there from scuba diving instructors and the more adventurous jobs. Think of these cruise ships as floating hotels so they have the same kind of jobs that you would find in these resorts, with all the relevant experience needed. Yes you do get to travel to these exotic ports of call and of course you meet all these different nationalities as these ships have a mini United Nations on board from afar as Nepal, with lots of different cultures as well.

The main negative factors of a Cruise Industry Job

1.You will be on the sea, so do you experience seasickness?
The sea is pretty unpredictable from one moment to the next on a cruise ship whether in the Caribbean or sailing the eastern Mediterranean, from hurricanes to stormy weather. So please think carefully if you do suffer from that motion sickness, or come prepared with the magic bracelet to start off with doing a cruise industry job.

2.You will need to sleep and live in a small cabin, pretty confining, so beware if you suffer from claustrophobia.
Working on a cruise ship, your small cabin will be on the lower decks and there most certainly won’t be a porthole (window) unless you are extremely lucky and on one of the older ships. You will share a cabin with someone in a cruise ship job who is called your cabin mate; you will share the toilet and shower, quite a thing in a confined space and confined time. Of course if you are employed as an officer yes your conditions are entirely different.

Yes you will have guessed if you have answered affirmative to the above, then you are not going to be a suitable candidate for this cruise ship jobs life.

Duration of your contract in cruise jobs – it can vary from four to six months sometimes longer or shorter, you will also work a seven day week. Days off are when you are on vacation at the end of your contract. You generally pay your own way to join the cruise ship for your cruise industry job, the cruise line pays your way back, and cruise lines are constantly changing their policies so always check. Obviously if you do not finish your contract you will be paying your own way home. You generally get 6 to 8 weeks vacation and then return to your cruise employment on a ship, the one you were on or a new one.

A Cruise Industry Job is normally paid in US Dollars while on board the ship, no pay while on vacation. You will have a flexible schedule but pretty demanding. You will need to be in good health, you will have to pass a medical examination prior to joining the ship and on a regular basis.

The Positive Factors of a Cruise Industry Job

Yes if you have got past all the negative aspects, then possibly you will think the positives outweigh all the negatives. Cruise Ship Jobs do give you that wonderful opportunity to travel the world and to meet all those exciting interesting people along the way. You will join a team onboard a cruise ship that is always willing to help you to learn the ropes and settle in and you will make lifetime friends with people. You will have lots of opportunities to go ashore in the ports of calls and visit all those exciting places. Or simply just go to the beach and swim in places in the Caribbean and just chill out and be in the moment, sun beating down on your head, body, and bliss….

The wages on board differs from cruise lines; you will think it’s not worth it for the long hours of work. You will get free board and food, no utility bills to pay. You don’t have as much opportunities to spend your wages, so just think of the money you can save.

All the cruise lines today are very aware of keeping cruise employees comfortable, happy. You will find a crew bar, crew shop for basic items on board and lots of activities and parties arranged on a regular basis, to even playing bingo. Cruise lines are very much aware that a happy crewmember will then keep the passengers happy. There keeps the circle going around for all satisfied people.

How to get a job on a cruise ship?

okay well im only in 10th grade right now , but i was wonder if you have to go to college to get a job on a cruise ship . and if you do what college would be good to go to ? also is it hard to get a job on royal carribean ?
It all depends on what you want to do on the cruise ship. If you want to do service work (waitress, maid service) or even cruise staff you don't necessarily have to have a college degree. If you want to do entertainment you should have some experience. It is hard as an American to get jobs on most cruise liners as they are not "flagged" in America. (If you have ever been on a cruise you will notice that alot of the staff are foreign) BUT Norwegian Cruise Line Hawaii cruises, are the first US flagged ship in over 50 years! I had a friend that worked on NCL in Hawaii. To find out more info on cruise jobs check out their web sites. Some even have videos on what it's like to work on a ship and what to do to apply. Here are some of the ones that I found that might interest you to look at. Working on a cruise ship can be LONG hours, many days in a row. YOu work in contracts. You may get a 3 month contract for one ship and then 3 months on another ship and then who knows. And generally you have to share a room with one or more room mates depending on what job you have. But while you are young it will be awesome like going away to college or camp. A lot of hard work, but a lot of fun! GOOD LUCK!!! Royal Caribbean http://www.royalcaribbeanproductions.com/ NCL America (these are the Hawaiin ships I mentioned) http://164.109.173.40/employment/nclAmerica/index.htm NCL http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/staticPage.html?pageId=NCLS.ShipboardEmploymentLanding Disney http://corporate.disney.go.com/careers/who_cruise.html
